American-Palestinian Adolescent Freed Following Nine Months in Israel's Detention

An American-Palestinian teenager who spent a nine-month period in Israeli detention without charge has been freed.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention in February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

United States authorities applauded the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care right after being freed, relatives told the media.

Family described him as pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Currently, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after experiencing mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment throughout his detention."

US officials said it would continue to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration considers paramount to the protection and welfare of US citizens"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to the state department and the administration, demanding more be done to secure his release.

The father, with four children who runs an ice cream business in Florida, previously said his son only confessed about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

He had not seen nor direct contact following the detention, and only heard regarding the treatment in detention through court documents.

The teenager remained absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

The facility also contains mature inmates, including individuals found guilty for major terrorist activities and murder.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Many have never been charged while advocacy organizations, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving physical abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities succumbed to assault by settlement residents following tensions in July.

During that period, the Israeli military said they were examining reports a Palestinian civilian was deceased.

The two cousins had worked together within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.

"We anticipate the American government to protect our families," Mr Kadur said.
