Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
