Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community shared sympathy for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
